The challenge

How might we simplify technical pest control jargons and processes to empower customers in making informed decisions on their pest control needs?
How might we establish PIXA's credibility and expertise in pest management to attract more customers in the business sector?

Simplifying the pest control jargons

Content inventory and audit

During the project, we discovered that while PIXA had various educational resources, like pamphlets and brochures, to inform potential customers about their pest control technology and process, they were often text-heavy and overwhelming to digest. As a result, people tend to avoid learning about pest management. Unfortunately, this issue led to a common misconception that pest control was merely about spraying chemicals, as pointed out by our client. In reality, effective pest control solutions required meticulous planning and ongoing maintenance. It was imperative to break this stigma in the industry so that customers could appreciate the value of PIXA's services.

Some of the brochures and pamphlets we utilized to strategically arrange the content of the site, making it easily comprehensible.

To simplify the pest control jargons, we conducted a comprehensive audit and review of PIXA's current content. Our team performed a UX audit to identify gaps in the previous website's user experience and proposed a new structure to improve navigability and usability. We also conducted a content inventory of PIXA's resources, including their services, processes, and pest library, to determine which information should be retained and which could be removed to make the website's content more accessible.

Our process in organizing our sitemap: we started from the main webpages and progressing to the detailed sections of the services and pests and diseases library pages.

Imagery

Throughout the website, we integrated pest icons with crosshairs as the primary imagery. This approach allows users to quickly browse through the services offered and identify which pest is being targeted immediately.

To empower customers in making informed decisions about their pest control needs, we identified two key pages that needed to be highlighted on the site: the Services and Pest and Disease Library pages. By utilizing pest iconographies and illustrations, we simplified the content of these pages to make them easier to navigate. This approach allowed customers to easily identify the pest problems they were facing and the corresponding services PIXA offered to address them. We also provided a summarized version of each service to ensure customers could quickly scan and understand the information presented.

On each page dedicated to a specific pest, we included a comprehensive illustration of the commonly found species in the Philippines. This feature aids users in identifying the specific pest species they may be encountering.

Quick filter

We wanted to provide customers a way to quickly identify the necessary services after identifying their pest problem. To achieve this, we added a convenient filter section right after the homepage's hero section, enabling users to swiftly search for the services they require. The filter section was designed in response to the common queries received by PIXA, structured as "I need help with [Pest/Disinfection] in my [Village/Home/Business]." By filling out this simple form, customers are presented with the relevant services, facilitating quick and easy access to the solutions they need.

Establishing PIXA's credibility and expertise

Professional tone and voice

The language and tone used on the website were also professional and informative, without being too technical or overly complex. The content was well-organized and easy to navigate, with clear headings and subheadings that guided the user through the different sections of the site. The Pest and Disease Library page, in particular, stood out as a showcase of the company's expertise, with research-based content backed by scientific resources cited per page.

Consistent and structured branding
